A Bit About Yolanda

Yolanda E’vett McPherson is a native of Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Clifton Harris and Laurice Johnson-Hanks. She is the youngest of 6 siblings. Yolanda is a 1981 High School graduate of Beverly Hills Christian School, in Dallas. After graduation, Yolanda attended Bishop College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading.

Immediately after graduation in 1986, I began to see my life dream of  becoming a classroom educator. During my tenure I have served on multiple decision making committees as well as Team Lead. After 32 years of classroom instruction in May of 2017, I decided through much prayer and reflection to retire as a full time educator.

I am the wife of Bishop B.C. McPherson II, of 25 years; The Senior Pastor of the Historic Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. I am also the proud mother of two college students Montana Cheyenne and Austin Benjamin-Cole. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., and I have served on the Resolutions Committee, the State Executive Board of the Southern Baptists of Texas State Convention (SBTC) and was the first African American woman to serve 2 consecutive terms as Recording Secretary for the Southern Baptist of Texas State Convention (SBTC).
